The program cultivates highly specialized professionals and research support personnel who conduct specialized research and development in one of the fields related to advanced information technologies and energy and environmental materials in private companies, universities, and national research institutions, who are able to understand and utilize the latest academic knowledge, and who can engage in the design and construction of social systems and the implementation of technologies in society.

The degree of Master of Science and Technology is awarded to those who have fulfilled the requirements for completion of the master's program as stipulated in the Graduate School Regulations of the University of Tsukuba and related regulations, and who are recognized as having acquired the following competences.

Curriculum Design Framework
- The curriculum is organized to provide foundational courses (Graduate General Education Courses and Graduate School Common Foundation Courses), through which students gain management competence, communication competence, teamwork competence, and internationality competence, in order to acquire interdisciplinary perspectives.
- The program provides foundation courses in specialized fields related to pure and applied science, systems and information engineering, and social systems, enabling students to gain knowledge application competence and fundamental knowledge required for addressing global issues.
- The program provides specialized courses such as Advanced Lectures on Fusion Experiment, Power Electronics System, Next-Generation Power Electronics, and Energy Materials and Environmental Materials, enabling students to gain advanced specialized knowledge and knowledge application competence.
- The program provides courses such as Special Research in Co-creative Next-Generation Energy I A–II B and Seminars in Co-creative Next-Generation Energy, through which students conduct research under the supervision of primary and secondary advisors, and gain the ability to systematize new knowledge and develop presentation ability, as well as management competence, communication competence, internationality competence, problem-solving competence, and comprehensive perspective competence.

- Students take foundational courses to gain knowledge common to all disciplines and the shared foundation of the program, thereby developing interdisciplinary perspectives.
- Students gain fundamental abilities leading to applications for solving global issues through the study of pure and applied science, systems and information engineering, and social systems in foundation courses.
- Students take specialized courses to gain advanced specialized knowledge and to deepen their understanding of social implementation and related social systems.
- Under the supervision of academic advisors, students investigate, design, and conduct research in specialized fields related to pure and applied science and systems and information engineering, and develop problem-solving abilities.
- Students compile their research outcomes into a master's thesis from the perspective of social implementation and present them, thereby gaining the ability to systematize new knowledge and presentation ability.
